Project #7 Bitmap Game

Description

Every one of us has a story, a narrative that we either tell to ourselves or others, about who we are. And in this game, I want to focus on the topic of the importance of giving and the power of saying no.

Design Process

Main character: watermelon

Watermelon man only knows how to give everything to people but never ask for returns. He has been stabbed in the forehead and half of its body is missing. I hope through this game you can appreciate the power of saying no and stop asking something from others but giving instead.

How to play:

Move the watermelon man to go up to move the scenes.

In game 1: People only knows how to ask for something but not giving. You need to hit control and option to move the slider down there to help these lions and if don’t help some of the lions, you won’t be able to pass the scene. And the more you give, you will become smaller and smaller.

In game 2: You have to avoid all these little kittens because they are constantly asking you to help them and by avoiding them you are saying no to them. There is also a timer to count down for you so that you can pass the scene as soon as possible.

Reflection

Giving is equally important to saying no. My hope is that through this game you can appreciate the power of saying no and stop asksomething from others but giving instead.

And if you feel uncomfortable about one of the requests your friends is asking, you should step up and know that you have the rights to say no. I have recently discovered that giving without expected payback can turn into something amazing. Some people will call this karma, and maybe that is what it is. We are in a fast moving world where we expect immediate responses. However, this is not how the universe works.

In terms of giving, don’t be afraid to ask for help as well as stepping up for yourself when it comes to say no. You’ll be surprised how powerful that is. Saying No is especially huge in establishing a work/life balance. Without that ability, work will cannibalize your life. My key point in this is that you need to start to appreciate the friends you have and who are constantly giving without asking. Identifying the true friends and real friends you have and be like them.
